Three zones makes for a
functional space
The use of natural stone was the driving force behind the design direction. The clients preferred a “subtle-luxe” look referencing the Hamptons style with a timeless appeal and classic inclusions.
The clients wanted separate zones to allow for multiple users and a design that would allow the toilet area to almost disappear when not in use. The bathroom renovation was part of a larger extension and renovation, so it was important the design of the bathroom was in keeping with the overall design and ambiance of the granny flat.
Feature lighting enhances the luxury Hamptons style and, with sheer fabric shades, add an upmarket – almost feminine – feel to this Wahroonga bathroom.
Decorative mirrors were also an important part of accessorising the design. The floor tiles are laid in an unusual yet visually striking formation to create visual interest and “guide” the eye into and around the room, while a subtle vein on the wall tiles beautifully complements the muted colour scheme.
Brushed platinum tapware and accessories were chosen to blend with the natural softness of the marble (chrome would have been to “harsh” and modern). The furniture-style, freestanding vanities were custom-made to suit the specific design requirements of the room – even the knobs on the drawers were specially chosen to stay consistent with the theme.
