Step 1: Initial Renovations Meeting

So you’ve decided you want a bathroom renovation – that’s great! Let’s make a time for us to visit your home for an initial appointment and we’ll talk about your requirements and lifestyle. We’ll go over things such as your likes, dislikes and what functionality you need from your new bathroom. It’s a great chance for you to ask any questions you may have about the products, materials, colours, trends, fittings and fixtures.

One of the most popular questions we get asked at this stage is “how long will my renovation take?”. Depending on the scope of works, you can expect your new bathroom to be finished in anywhere from three to six weeks.

Step 2: Bathroom Design Brief

After our chat, we’ll go into the design brief. After some brainstorming, this will cover everything that you would like in your bathroom renovation and help our design team draft your new bathroom.

The design brief is a critical factor in determining whether or not you have a successful bathroom renovation, because it creates the way forward for the entire process.

Step 3: Check Measure

It’s starting to feel real now! Our team will visit your home and measure your bathroom. Depending on what inclusions you would like added (for example, a whirlpool, a bathtub or maybe an extra long vanity), we will be able to see if everything can fit.

Step 4: Bathroom Design

Our talented design team, headed by a Certified Bathroom Designer (CBD AU) with over 30 years’ experience in designing and building award-winning bathrooms, will now design your perfect bathroom.

Our designers will go over everything with you to create your ideal bathroom – they can offer their advice on layouts, colour schemes, accessories, finishes, lighting designs, organisational elements and anything else we may need to cover to create a bathroom you will love.

Step 5: Choose Bathroom Fittings & Fixtures

Now that we have design set, we then move into the step where, if you haven’t already, you decide on the fittings and fixtures you would like. These days, we are spoilt for choice with plenty of options available on the market, so we recommend you do some research – perhaps browse online or flick through some catalogues and magazines to see what makes your heart truly sing.

Our designers are also available to offer their advice to ensure everything in the bathroom is harmonious and will complement each other.

Step 6: Create Building Drawings

Our team will then move onto creating the building drawings (also known as construction or architectural drawings). These are an in-depth drawing of the bathroom layout and will provide details with precise measurements to the tradespeople.

Step 7: Create Schedule and Order Materials

We’re really getting down to business now! Once the bathroom design is completed and signed off, our team will create the schedule of works. This will let each contractor know when they are required to be onsite and will ensure that everything flows in the correct sequence.

A schedule is imperative to allow for important and time-sensitive tasks such as adequate drying time and allowing the electrician and plumbers to do their rough ins (their services in the wall cavities) before the walls are lined. We’ll also get onto ordering the materials to ensure that they arrive in time for when they are required, to increase the chances of a successful bathroom renovation.

Step 8: Bathroom Strip Out / Demolition

We hope you’ve got a plan B for your showering and other bathroom needs sorted because this is the step where we come in and remove your old bathroom! This will only take one day and you can expect the delivery of the bathware items around now as well.

Step 9: Bathroom Renovations Begin

Bathroom construction begins

The time has finally come! Over the next three to six weeks (depending on your specific schedule), you’ll expect a lot of busy visitors. Once the strip out and delivery is completed, the tradespeople will come onsite to do their pre-check.

A typical schedule will see the rough ins begin first, then the rendering of the walls. The carpenter and plumber will then begin installations and waterproofing followed by the tiler. The shower screen can then be expected to be installed, followed by the electrician to finish their electrical installations.

The carpenter will return to trim the work and fittings ready for the painter who will come in. Once the tradespeople have all finished, a cleaner will enter and the gapping and other shower work will conclude on the final day.

One last final check over will occur to ensure that everything is of the highest standard.
