Brindabella Bathrooms is the winner of Australian Bathroom Design at the 2015 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards. The winning project was unveiled before hundreds of industry leaders at the prestigious Awards ceremony held at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards are the ultimate platform to showcase the talents of the nation’s top builders and designers. Winners are selected from state based finalists, with awards in 21 separate categories.
The Australian Bathroom Design award, partnered by GWA Bathrooms & Kitchens, recognises excellence in the design of a renovated or new bathroom in a residential project. “The reclaimed timber mosaic tiles are the key feature of this renovated bathroom,” commented the judges. “The tiles add subtle warmth to the room and pair well with the other tile choices.”
The brief from the owners was to modernise the main bathroom, and adjacent powder room, but ensure the design was in keeping with the history of the building and would suit the industrial style of the interior. Certified Bathroom Designer (CBD Au) John Spiteri, knew this space had the potential to become something special and suggested to the owners that a new timber mosaic tile could be used for excellent visual effect in the bathroom. They immediately agreed and the feature tile became the starting point for a design which has also won the 2014 HIA NSW Bathroom Design of the Year award.
HIA is Australia’s peak building industry body representing more than 40,000 builders, suppliers and contractors involved in residential construction. Judged by industry professionals, the awards acknowledge the talent of builders, designers and building companies who plan and construct quality new housing, apartments, renovations, kitchens and bathrooms.
